Well, the reason that the beaches in Boloxi, MS have brown sand and muddy brown
water is because those beaches are right next to the Mississippi River.  The 
river dicharges an incredibaly HUGE amount of sediment.  The beaches in Alabama
are further away from the river so you don't see the impact of the sediment.
