While studying ionisation energies I found out that the 4th ionisation energy was lower than expected because there was only one electron to remove from the valence shell as opposed to the 3rd ionisation energy where there were 2 electrons to remove {more energy was needed}.So,is the 6th ionisation energy of Sulpher going to be lower than expected and in general will the ionisation of an atom with one valence electron be less than the same atom when it has two valence electrons? Thanks in advance.
Re: Is the 6th ionisation energy of Sulpher lower than its 5th and why?
