How can I locate an available, inexpensive, easy to mold, solid material- 
(natural or synthetic) –that is significantly and visually changes its 
length (and volume) according to Moisture and dampness, and every time it 
return to its original volume when getting dry.
This is for a visual (not necessarily accurate) indication of dampness 
level.
