A centrifugal air compressor experiences surge. When it surges, a reversal 
of flow occurs and a sound is heard. Whoooomph! Where does this noise, the 
characteristic sound of surge come from? What is making the noise? Is it 
an exchange of compressed air energy to sound energy?
