Check US Environmental Protection Agency sites (epa.gov). At the home page 
you should have the opportunity to search the site.  Search for bioassays.  
Because each pesticide works differently, it is impossible to answer such a 
general question.  If you review the bioassay materials US EPA has on-line, 
however, for a particular pesticide, you should find the answers to some or 
all of your questions.
