I recently watched a show about the moon.  During this they explained how 
the moon moves farther out every year.  I started thinking about how maybe 
5 billion years ago the moon would have been very close to earth.  Since 
the far side of the moon is covered with craters, could it have possibly 
been close enough to shield the earth from a violent meteor shower?
