Dear Heleen,

Your suspicions are correct!  The main reason that there are more fjords in 
the northern hemisphere is because 67 percent of the world's land area is 
located in the northern hemisphere. This leaves only 33 percent of earth's 
land area in the southern hemisphere.  You can prove this to yourself if 
you have access to a globe.  Compare the amount of land you can see by 
first looking straight down at the north pole and then at the south pole.  
You can also simply count the squares (made by the latitude and longitude 
lines) containing land in the northern hemisphere and compare that to the 
number of squares containing land in the south.
