The person should walk in a straight line, as long as the line to be walked along was indicated to the person before hand. Instant Visual input (i.e., visual input at all times) is not necessary in motor coding (in this case walking) but is more of a feedback for making corrections. Also, if the subjects are not told to consciously straighten their path they are most likely to remain on a straight path. Literature by Berthoz may be worth a read on the matter.
