MadSci Network: Biochemistry |
Hi, I'm a junior at Alhambra High School. My biology class recently learned about cellular respiration. We learned that protons are captured by carriers such as Coenzyme Q and pumped into the outer mitochondria compartment. My textbook saids that the protons captured by the carriers when they are reduced, but it doesn't expalin how it happens. Do the protons just enter the carriers and attract to the electrons? Are there channels which the protons go through to enter the carriers? Thanks for your time!
