I am only familiar with Cysticercus causing problems in the flesh of beef, pork, and fish. In these instances prevention is achieved by rejecting the diseased animals thus eliminating the product from the food supply. If necessary, the Cysticercus can be killed in the product by heating to 60C. With regard to fruits and vegetables (if in fact, the organism is present) one should first look for another supplier of these products; surely clean, safe, product should be available. If not, one is faced with having to cook all of these products before eating them. "Modern Food Microbiology"....3rd Edition....James M. Jay
