The law of conservation of mass states that energy is neither created nor destroyed. However, mass can be transformed into energy and energy can be transformed into mass. Albert Einstein discovered this concept in 1905. Energy and mass are considered to be equivalent concepts. The equation E = mc2, discovered by Einstein, describes this fact. (E) is the rest energy equivalent of the rest mass (m). In most calculations it is not necessary to consider the change in mass with changing velocity because it is almost undetectable until the velocity approaches the speed of light.

In reality, matter is not converted completely into energy. The closest example of this exchange can be demonstrated through nuclear reaction. There are many Internet sites that discuss this concept. Search under Einstein and Mass-Energy Equivalence.

Good Luck!
