Dear Fred,

The basics of the Scatchard plot derive from the fact that the equation for
the binding of a ligand to a receptor has the same form as the binding of a
substrate to an enzyme, the more familiar Michaelis-Menton equation. I
would recommend you read Athel Cornish-Bowden's "Fundementals of Enzyme
Kinetics" (Portland Press, London 1995). They have a web page
at http://www.portlandpress.com/books/titles.htm. I would thoroughly
recommend this book, in my opinion it is the best available on the subject.
