Hi, Cardiac Output is defined as being the volume of blood ejected by one ventricle in one minute. The Cardiovascular system is ultimately controlled by the autonomic nerves. Arterial stretch receptors or baroreceptord are located in the carotid sinus and the aortic arch, they play a key role in blood pressure control and respond to stretch of the vessel wall. They produce impulses at normal vessel tone, if stretch increases due to increased pressure then the impulse firing rate will rise likewise it will fall if the stretch decreases. An increase in firing rate causes a decrease in heart rate initiated via the medulla it also causes a drop in resistance. The idea of these baroreceptors is to buffer the blood pressure in the short term.
