Subject: experiments concerning chemical chain reactions.

I saw an experiment that combined several fairly common chemicals. when the 
chain reaction was completed, the liquid turned instantly from clear to 
dark, like a lightbulb.  I have looked everywhere for such an experiment 
but no luck.  I originally saw it in a library book, but the book had been 
lost. I  want to do this for summer school. I am in eighth grade, but will 
be in freshman summer school.  Thanks a whole bunch!
