Hi Jennifer!!

It's always good to hear from someone who loves animals! Me too!
A career in zoology isn't for everyone. There are all kinds of fields
that a zoologist can go into too! I love it because I get to work
outdoors, and I'm not stuck in an office all day. As I said to someone
recently, as a marine biologist my office covers 70% of the planet!!
Imagine the size of your office if you were a zoologist! Sometimes being
a zoologist, or a veterinarian isn't very fun though. It's really sad
when an animal is really sick, or even dies. But the satisfaction you get
from making animals better is such a good feeling.
So here's the advice I can give you on what subjects to do... firstly and
most importantly do what you enjoy. Secondly, I can't stress how
important it is to learn about botany. Heaps of animals eat plants, live
in plants, and depend on plants for survival, and if you don't know much
about plants then it won't do you much good.
And thirdly, especially if you want to research animals, make sure you are or become
good at mathematics. Doing research on animals requires a lot of mathematics.
Sounds a bit daunting at first, but it's all worth it.
Your love for animals will give you the motivation to learn everything
there is to learn.
I love everything about it!
