On the racetrack, I can go through turns faster when I "hang off" the motorcycle, i.e., shift my body so that the bulk of my weight is toward the bottom and inside. I know that I'm shifting my center of gravity, but it seems that I am counteracting other forces with this maneuver as well. What forces are involved in riding a motorcycle through an arc, and what forces am I counteracting by hanging off of the bike?
