Due to surface tension water surface behaves like a stretched membrane due to which certain insects and the balisink (a lizard) can walk on its surface. Can we walk on the surface of water if we walk with a particular speed. Thank you. ----- Thank you for your reply. Only one small query, you said that water skiers can ski through the water surface if the boat is going at 30 miles/hour, is this due to surface tension? How can the balisink (a lizard) walk on the water surface? Thanks once again Sincerely Nandini K.

Hi - I wouldn't describe it as a walk, as you would most certainly sink.
However, water skiiers can ski along the surface of the water with just
their bare feet. I think it takes a boat going >= 30 miles/hour to attain
the effect. Hope this helps..
