Aluminium dissolves in hot dilute sodium hydroxide according to this
equation:
Al(s) + OH-(aq) +
3H2O(l) --->
Al(OH)4-(aq) + 3/2 H2 (g)
the other product is sodium tetrahydroxoaluminate(III), the sodium salt of
a complex ion.
