i think that there were a lot of very intersting organisms in the distant past -
placoderms, giant bugs, carcharodon megalodon, (i know that's no longer it's
correct name, but i forgot the new one) etc. not to mention the huge, even
mammoth (i couldn't resist) mammals of the pleistocene. what happened to 'em? did
they die out in the mass extinctions, or were their sizes too awkward?
