What is being inherited by each male member of your family is more
propably a heart valve defect than a disease. Inherited physical
abnormalities do not necessarily effect every male member of a family
tree. You can look at your family tree and something called the
coefficient of relatedness by which you can see genetic defects can 'hop'
generations. Each of us inherit 50% of our parents genes; 25% of our
grandparents';12.5% of great-grandparents etc. An interesting guide is how
often twins appear in families, often genetic inheritance follows the same
patern.
