I'm afraid I can't help you very much with this one as it's not really my

Personally I think it would be a better idea to encourage some 
(semi-)natural habitat on your property as opposed to deliberately planting 
a crop.  That way you'll encourage insects, birds and small mammals as well 
as the charismatic deer and wild turkeys.  Make sure you plant native 
plants.
