Subject: What are the major consequences and affects of albinoism?

What are the direct affects of albinoism?  Is it harmful to your body as a 
whole, includung internal organs?  I know that it's genetic but what is 
it's source, and what is the approximate time period of it's first 
appearance?  Overall, phisically, mentally, and socially what are the 
direct side effects and consequential factors?  By the way, what exactly is 
melinin, and does it prevent burns, while inflicting tans, from the suns 
ultra violet rays?
