The Black-box device, is used to simplify expanations of complex systems by hding the content and operational processes of the box. There are now "glass" boxes and other variations. My father thinks that this concept was invented by a Professor Black who worked on operational research or engineering and that this is the reason why it is called a Black box, not because you can't see inside it. Now the term is used for sub-routines in programs and flight recorders. Is my Dad correct?
