Elizabeth: My first reaction to your question was, "Who cares?" but as I read on, I can see why you and your daughter might be curious. I have no knowledge of any studies that measure gender or age differences in umbilicus sizes. There are lots of studies that outline the proper care of the stump after tying the cord after birth, what techniques to use to eliminate infection, the use of umbilical blood for different medicinal purposes, but not any information that will help you in answering your question. I suspect that as the abdomen grows, so does the umbilicus, so in general, I would guess that an obese man would have a larger one than a thin woman, but beyond that generalization, I am not much help.
