My mother is deathly afraid of snakes, and somehow believes that
mothballs will keep them away from the house. She throws them out in the
underbrush in the woods near their house (Central Fla.)and now there is a
nice white line of mothballs faintly visible in the woods. Is there any
possible truth to this belief? Could the camphor or other chemicals in
mothballs repel snakes in any fashion? Our family is curious if Mom is
bonkers, or just smarter than the rest of us.....
