Go to your local hobby shop and ask for "the foaming plastic used for model
railroad layouts." I believe that the ingredients make a polyurethane (go to
the Macrogalleria to find
out what that is!), with enough low-boiling solvent
to foam the plastic as it's formed.
In essence, that's how any plastic foam is made: put a gas source in with the ingredients, so that you get gas bubbles in the plastic as it hardens. For commercial plastic foams, they use carbon dioxide now. Dan Berger |
