Subject: Swimmer's buoyancy greater on surface of 12-foot pool than 4-foot pool?

We were at a swim meet and a mom made a casual statement that the swimmers
would have an easier meet swimming across the deep end than they would at
the shallow end, based on having greater buoyancy in deep water. Is there
anything to this?
