While viewing a PBS program about African animals, I was absolutely astounded that, during a sequence filmed with night vision cameras, the eyes of the animals were many times brighter than the animals' bodies! Since night vision technology (to my knowledge) captures information in the infrared spectrum (i.e., 'heat'), just how much hotter than the rest of the animal are its eyes? Are the eyes producing more energy than the rest of the body? Could they even be reflecting heat from the environment?
Re: How much 'hotter' can eyes be as compared to the rest of the body?
