Hi I am away from my PC at the moment, but by the power of modern science I
at
last got my own e-mail where the above question is awaiting an overdue
answer.
The answer is Clap comes from the french CLAPOIR or venereal sore or CLAPIER
for brothel 16th century old provencalian apparently. From where I am I
don't
have the website address for the answering form so I hope this is OK
Regards H
