In reviewing information provided by the National Osteoporosis Foundation
( http://www.nof.org), there is no indication
that carbonation affects bone loss.
There has been research that suggests that excessive consumption of
caffeine may increase bone loss and, therefore, increase risk of
osteoporosis. Many carbonated beverages contain moderate levels of
caffeine, so consuming large amounts of them may increase risk of
osteoporosis.
