Hi Alex,
it is kind of you to care for your puppies. You didn't tell me how old
they are, but if they are already running around they must be older than
four weeks.

From your letter it sounds like your puppies are getting their first
lessions in social learning.
It is normal for puppies at this age to learn how to behave in a group of
dogs. This often includes that they try some things that the mother dog
finds wrong and she shows them that they did something wrong. They have to
learn how to deal whith this. And screaming, running away and some typical
"ok, I give in" gestures are an essential part of this social learning.
So, most likely there is no reason for you to be worried, because this is
normal behavior and necessary at this age.

You should best not interfere whith this kind of education, but you should
check that:
- the mother dog clearly respects the "I give in" signal and leaves the
puppy alone
- the puppies don't have wounds or injuries that need medical care

If you want to do something else: check the puppies weight two times a
week. A puppy who gains weight is a healthy puppy. And you can find out
if there are dog clubs in your area which offer training groups for young
dogs.
Bye Eva Kahnt
