Dear Colin,
 Strange as this may seem, you can't actually burn pure oxygen. I've tried.
Combustion needs oxygen to burn things ,like methane to carbon dioxide and 
the like but you need something in the oxygen to burn. 
 Sorry but if there's only oxygen then it won't burn away.
