On a recent exam for my Biology of Cancer course, my professor asked us why sheep didn't shrink (or at least their wool) when they got wet. I had no idea other than maybe some sort of lipid protection. So I was interested in finding the answer, and I haven't been able to find it on the web or in the library. I am curious to know why the wool doesn't shrink because when you buy a wool sweater and get it wet, it shrinks. What is the difference? THANKS!
