As you know vinegar tastes sour. This is because it is a type of chemical
called an acid. It is very dilute (that means lots of water with it) so it
won't harm you. Baking powder is mainly a chemical called sodium hydrogen
carbonate. It reacts with acids to make the gas called carbon dioxide. The
mixture doesn't actually explode, which is a very, very fast reaction, it
just fizzes and bubbles quickly as the gas comes off. You could try the
reaction with other sour acids like lemon juice and compare the reactions!
