Subject: What are the effects of the presence of air in compost?

The question is part of a yr.11 biology experiment our class has 
undertaken. The experiment consists of two (made) compost columns. One 
labelled the 'variable' that was exposed to oxygen, and the other 
the 'control' that was deprived of oxygen. The assignment is due in five 
days as of writing this email. I understand that it takes about two weeks 
to receive a reply, but I am willing to give this a go - hopefully, some 
help can be given in time. Thank you
