I was told that if I tie a steel or iron nail onto the positive wire of a 
DC converter, and submerged that with the other wire into a saltwater 
solution, that I would get rust.  I tried it and what I appear to have 
gotten is a black granular solution.  Is this rust? or some other oxide?
