Subject: how works a sling of dave?

I would like to understand how a sling of dave works, how i can 
build one and how i can operate it.

Yes indeed I am fascinated by the biblical story and i mean exactly
that sling.
Also i noticed that palestinian children seem still to use
the sling as weapon.
I am curious how it works, how well it works, etc.
