 Becky, usually old sayings and myths are just that, myths and old sayings.
Whether you pull the hair or it falls out only one hair will grow back in 
its place. That particular myth probably came from a few things. First, If 
someones hair is really turning white than more hair is going to turn white 
any way. That has to do with the pigment in your skin. Although your 
overall hair color is determined by genetics the shade and overall color of 
your hair comes from a pigment in your body called melanin. As we get older 
our bodies produce less melanin and our hair starts to turn white. The 
other reason is that when you pull a hair out you forget that your hairs 
fall out naturally. So it could just be a coincidence that three of those 
hairs have a white or grey color. That is about as close as that saying is 
going to come to being true.
