MadSci Network: Microbiology |
Dear Mad Scientist, I know that tap water contains chlorine and other additives to discourage microbes in our water supply. And I also know that microbes in the soil supply nutrients and keep plants healthy. So my question is: if I water my plants with tap water, am I killing beneficial microbes? Short of building a still, is there a way to reduce the amount of antimicrobial chemicals in tap water? Do commercially sold water filters do this? Thank you for considering my question, Jared
