Hello!

There is a formula for this, but it is too complex for me to enter. Here
are some Web pages which give the formula and explain it:

Thermionic Emission from Tungsten
 http://sis.bris.ac.uk/~ow9675/default.htm

Thermionic Emission Current (I am assuming you can calculate the number of
electrons once you know the current density)
 http://ece-www.colorado.edu/~bart/book/msthermi.htm

Monte Carlo Simulation of PMT Dark Noise Spectrum (dark noise from a
photomultiplier tube is a thermionic process). Includes the source code.

Hope this helps!
