I understand that the view to the center of our galaxy is obscured by
dust. In fact isn't our clear view limited to relatively near stars. If
so, how do we know the shape of our galaxy (double armed spiral,
elliptical, globular etc.) and how do we know where in our galaxy our sun
is?
