It is possible. At about 100 miles up an object would go into orbit around the 
earth. Need approval from NASA to jump from shuttle. Note my website:

Moderator's note:  Other reasons the experiment would be difficult to get 
permission for: high risk of failure, political and public-perception 
ramifications, scientific value, difficulty of finding volunteers, expense of 
training...  just to name a few.
