Dear Gabby

There are often similarities in the pattern types on fingers from persons from the same family, i.e the same pattern types may be present on the same fingers. Further to that, there are often very close similarities in the formation of the friction ridges in close relations such as brothers. The sequence of the ridge characteristics however are always unique to the individual, this also applies in identical twins.

If I can be of further help, please E mail again.

Regards,
Helen Stubbs,
Fingerprint Expert.
