our professor said that if an element contains 4 electrons in outermost 
orbit it will be a semiconductor,but said,though carbon contains 4 
electrons in its outermost orbit it is not used as an semiconductor in 
many devices whereas silicon is used so.please explain this to me at the 
latest possible.
