My wife and I got into a discussion. She thinks there might be more people on earth than ants. I am 99% sure she is wrong, but it led me to an interesting question. What is the any population? I think it is probably so high that it is ridiculous. A friend of mine posits that we (humans) kill at least 6 billion (human population) ants a day: his theory, since 30% of the world population lives in rural areas, and it safe to say that each person kills at least 3 ants a day, then you have it. While we might not all kill 3 ants a day, there are people eradicating entire colonies, and so making up the average. I don't know if this is a question you guys could/would answer, but I spent so long searching the net for an answer I thought, why not ask?
