Zoologists are employed by a variety of organisations. Generally,
zoologists train at university and do a Bachelor of Science. Then they do
an honours year (one year of research) and move to a PhD (3 years of
research) - well, that's how it works in Australia.

Zoologists are employed in a wide range of different jobs too. They might
be research staff, technical staff, work in information jobs, work in mine
site rehabilitation, work for environmental consultants to do
environmental impact assessments of areas or work for various government
departments like the EPA, parks and wildlife commissions and departments
of agriculture and natural resources. A zoologist might even work as a
science teacher, in an aquarium, in a museum or even at a zoo!

I hope this helps.
