I have recently been reading some works of Robert Anton Wilson (fictional 
and non-fictional), some of them several decades old, containing 
references to a forthcomiong neuroscientific potential of increasing 
intelligence through a variety of means from yoga to special drugs. He was 
sounding rather optimistic about all this, and I wonder how much science 
actually HAS achieved in this matter. As a second point, all kinds of 
people constantly offer mail order miracle working memory trainers. What 
is really known about how to improve it?
