The shape of an amount of candle wax could have some effect on the rate it
burns but it wouldn't have any effect on the total amount of energy it
gives off when it is burned. The amount of energy given off by a quantity
of candle wax is governed by the heat of combustion of the wax. If the
candle burned slowly, the candle would last longer and the energy would be
given off more slowly, and if it burned rapidly the candle would not last
as long and the energy would be given off more rapidly - but the total
amount of energy released would be the same no matter how the candle was
shaped.
