In an old horology encylopedia there was a short piece and ilustration
defining "engaging friction and disengaging friction". One which "digs in" the
other lifting as it goes along. The ilustration shows a tool like a burnisher
going over a surface at the same angle--one, pushing, the other pulling. Is
this specialized jargon OR does it have a broader context? Than-you.
