On the surface, this does appear to be a contradiction. As Tye Morancy has already discussed in response to a previous question, the answer may not be as simple as it initially appears, though. Unfortunately, that article refers to a link that is now outdated. You'll want to refer to the latest version of David Ward's essay on the Black Holes and Thermodynamics.
